Maximum effort! Gritty illustrative prints inspired from the Deadpool movies.
While experimenting with patterns and blend modes I found an interesting effect, similar to a threshold effect but with a lot more detail. I decided to try this effect out and went for everyone favourite anti-hero Deadpool. A fine match for the style i think.
However this threshold effect would only pick up from where the pattern interacted with the lighter parts of the image, in this case horizontal lines. I used adjustment layers to refine the image to bring out the details and increase the contrast as I found that the effect worked better when using a higher contrasting image. The final result gives a great vintage letterpress like effect with a modern feel. Next step will be to try other patterns and see what that will bring.
