Christmas burger, plus presents!

KFC wanted to change things up for Christmas. Not only were they launching a new Christmas burger, they wanted a whole new look and feel for their point of sale. This meant everything from product packaging to inside their restaurants.

I worked closely with the creatives in developing both the campaign for the burger launch and in connecting and crafting designs for the point of sale. Our approach for the burger was to let the product to the work, this was a huge burger that we put front and centre, making it look as crave-able as possible. Working from concept and composition through to retouch and production. For the point of sale, the concept was to turn the packing into presents, ones that you just couldn’t wait to open. I created a series of wrapping paper designs, creating elements from KFC brand elements.

Packaging

The concept for the packaging was to turn them into presents. Each packaging is christmas wrapping paper with a tag on with a message from KFC. There is then a tear taken out to reveal the KFC branding underneath, conveying the concept that you just couldnt wait to open it.

I developed three patterns, first was illustrations of the bucket, clamshell and box packagings, second was a classic red and white stripes with "Merry Finger Lickin' Christmas" and the third was a Fair Isle christmas jumper style that was used exclusively for the Christmas Burger.

Restaurants

To take the wrapping paper theme further we used them to cover the kiosks in the restaurants. Also we took the christmas present illustrations and used as window stickers.
