Until we can Finger Lick again

As the pandemic developed and personal hygiene became a matter of global urgency, KFC’s renowned, 64-year-old slogan It’s Finger Lickin’ Good all of a sudden seemed wildly inappropriate.

I worked with the Creative Director on developing a campaign where KFC would “try on” the taglines of other brands.  The key was to keep the design as simple as possible, you want people to see the ad and think oh its just a KFC ad, and then they glance at the tagline and something in their head triggers a double take.

Exploration

There are various elements that make up the KFC brand. The iconic Colonel Sanders logo, handwritten Finger Lickin Good tagline and the bucket of chicken. Plus the unique fonts they use and their minimalist colour palette of red, white and black.

I explored different ways we could incorporate the borrowed slogans into KFCs look and feel. However it was clear that the simpler the better and that was easy to read at a glance
